ABOUT US
Discover the Aidu Water Adventure Center – a place where the past meets the future and adrenaline-filled water adventures. Our center is an ideal destination for families, friends, and teams looking for an active and adventurous getaway.
PAST
Before the oil shale quarry was established, the Aidu area was inhabited; the earliest written records of settlement in the Aidu region date back to 1241.
The Aidu open-pit oil shale mine was opened in 1974, and more than 200 families were forced to leave their homes.
In 2012, the mine was closed. The total mining area covered approximately 25 km², with annual oil shale production reaching about 2.4 million tonnes. Altogether, around 90 million tonnes of oil shale were extracted from the quarry.

FUTURE
A new chapter has begun: by applying circular economy principles to this former industrial landscape, the legacy of the past becomes the energy of the future. At the Aidu Water Adventure Center, we offer exciting water adventures for the whole family and your team: wake park, SUP boarding, canoeing and guided canoe trips, and disc golf. We also offer great team and group packages for both larger and smaller groups, including accommodation. And of course, we still provide seminar rooms with outstanding views, catering, and sauna rental options.
In 2025, a fully compliant rowing and paddling canal with lane markings was completed, making it possible to host international-level competitions.

TEAM EVENTS
There are very few places in Ida-Viru County (and not many in Estonia either) where you can organize active and adventurous activities for up to 100 people within just 2 hours — both on the water and in an artificial landscape. The best way to secure a great summer event for your team is to contact us as soon as possible, as smaller but quicker bookings tend to fill up the available time slots fast.
